 Our Parish School

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parochial School of West Grove, PA, in Southern Chester County, was founded in 1922, and is dedicated to the work of implementing Catholic Education’s primary goal of proclaiming the Gospel message of love and hope.  This message is interwoven through every aspect of school life.

Embracing their vocation as teacher, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary faculty and staff strive to teach as Jesus did and model His mission of love and service.  Dedicated to Our Lady under the title of her Assumption, the school focuses on the ultimate goal of being united with God in the life and in heaven.  Rooted in God’s love and nurtured in a Christian atmosphere of love and respect, the faculty, students, and parents strive to become a community of faith where Christ’s message is shared, faith is lived, and support is given.  Through experience as a faith community, the students are encouraged to grow as responsible Christian citizens and live the Gospel call to service.

The school program is dedicated to helping students develop spiritually through an all inclusive religious education program steeped in Catholic doctrine with daily prayer and opportunities for liturgical celebration.  Intellectually, we offer a wide variety of educational services to stimulate and challenge children of all sages.  Socially and physically, children are invited to participate in CYO, scouting activities, and numerous other parish events throughout the year.  Our school’s parish center is the hub of religious, social, and sporting activities.  Students are encouraged to develop a positive self-image, to discover and work to their individual potential, and to accept the challenge of their limitations.  Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary attempts to integrate content and process through basic skills derived from archdiocesan guidelines.  Basic skills are taught sequentially through group and individual instruction and monitored through testing and observation.  Critical thinking and problem solving strategies are developed and strengthened throughout the grades.  The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary graduates are welcomed throughout the area’s high schools.

 Catholic Youth Faith Formation (CYFF)

Our mission is to complete a child’s education with religious instruction.  The Catechists and Aides in this program are facilitators to your child’s religious journey; they are here to tell the story of Jesus and our faith.

When you brought your child to be baptized you promised to make it your constant care to bring your child up in the practice of their faith.  The light of Christ was entrusted to you to be kept burning brightly.  Participation in the CYFF program is just one opportunity for you to keep this promise that was made.

To strive together to make your child’s experience of the Lord complete.  Attendance at Holy Mass every Sunday, prayer at home helps to achieve a “Catholic Way of Life” for your whole family.

Education and formation are a means to leading our children to a respectful life, a closer walk with Jesus and His church.  CYFF is our Parish’s way to help you as parents in caring for the spiritual needs of your child.
